Since NCAA Division III was created in 1973, 14 DIII players have been drafted into the NBA.

The most recent player was Devean George who was drafted in the first round in 1999. He remains the only DIII player to have been drafted in the first round of the NBA.

Since 1989, the NBA draft has consisted of just two rounds, drastically limiting the opportunity for any player to be drafted.

Since 1990 (Likely not a coincidence, shortly after the NBA Draft moved to just two rounds), six NCAA DIII players have signed with NBA teams as free agents.

The most successful has been Duncan Robinson who led Williams to the DIII title game in 2014 then transferred to Michigan. He was signed as a free agent by the Miami Heat in 2018 and has since played in two NBA Finals with the Heat.
