Weighted On-Base Average (wOBA) is an all around offensive statistic that is considered one of the most important and telling. Per FanGraphs, wOBA “Measure[s] a hitter’s overall offensive value, based on the relative values of each distinct offensive event.”

To get wOBA, you take different aspects of hitting and weight them based on their actual run value calculated from DIII at large this season. Based on the season, the run values change.

How to actually read wOBA? Luckily, it is scaled to league average On-Base Percentage (OBP) so if you understand what a decent OBP is, wOBA looks the same but is a more in-depth and true stat. Across the last five seasons, league average OBP is generally around .400.

To qualify, a player has to have played in at least 75 percent of team games.
